This workshop is for neighborhood organizations dealing with nuisance and vacant properties in Baltimore City.
It will cover identifying, reporting, and tracking nuisance and vacant properties; identifying property owners; the self-help nuisance abatement process; and what communities can do about vacant properties.
Who should register?
• All are welcome to attend. This training is designed for neighborhood organizations who are dealing with nuisance issues as they relate to vacant properties in Baltimore City, Maryland.
Baltimore City has a longstanding history of vacant properties. If your community is dealing with vacant properties in your neighborhood, please attend this training.
Whether your community organization is new, or it has existed for some time, this training will provide resources on how to deal with vacant properties in your neighborhood.
The workshop will cover:
- identifying, reporting, and tracking nuisance and vacant properties;
- identifying property owners;
- the self-help nuisance abatement process; and
- what communities can do about vacant properties
Cost to attend the workshop
The cost for one person to attend the workshop is $30. Additional attendees from the same organization may sign up for a discounted rate!
Accessing the workshop
The workshop will be presented in-person at Community Law Center in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore City. Free parking is available and the LocalLink 30 bus stops a block away from our office. The course can also be available as a video series you can access anytime for 30 days after registering.
About the Presenter
Shana Roth-Gormley, Esq., is Senior Staff Attorney at Community Law Center. Ms. Roth-Gormley has been with the Community Law Center since 2014. Ms. Roth-Gormley has overseen the Pro Bono Program and taught many of Community Law Center’s workshops on nonprofit formation and governance, and vacant and nuisance properties. She also represents nonprofit clients, advocates for systemic change on issues of tax sale and vacant and abandoned properties and serves on the Maryland State Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Section Council. She is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law and a member of the Maryland Bar.
