In this workshop, learn what you need in your bylaws and how to handle conflicts of interest for your board members and other key individuals for your organization.
- Delve into bylaws, which are ground rules about WHO gets to make decisions, HOW to make decisions, how to convey information, and who acts/speaks on behalf of your organization.
- We’ll discuss Conflicts of Interest – what potential conflicts are, disclosing them, and then following appropriate procedures to discuss and vote on them.
Who should attend?
All are welcomed, though board members and community leaders involved in nonprofits and neighborhood organizations, are encouraged to attend.
Cost to attend the workshop
The cost for one person to attend the workshop is $30. Additional attendees from the same organization may sign up for a discounted rate! The cost for 2 participants from the same organization is $50. The cost for 3 participants is $60.
Accessing the workshop
The workshop is in-person at Community Law Center’s office in Baltimore, Maryland. Free parking is available. The LocalLink 94 bus stops one block from our office, on Chestnut Street.
About the Presenter
Ms. Roth-Gormley is Senior Staff attorney at the Community Law Center. Since 2014, Ms. Roth-Gormley has overseen the Pro Bono Program and taught many of Community Law Center’s workshops on nonprofit formation and governance, and vacant and nuisance properties. She currently represents nonprofit clients and advocates for systemic change on issues of tax sale and vacant and abandoned properties. She also serves on the Maryland State Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Section Council. She is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law and is a member of the Maryland Bar.
