Referrals for Individual Legal Assistance

Community Law Center only serves nonprofit organizations.

We do not handle any cases for individuals. The following resources – none of them directly affiliated with Community Law Center – may be helpful for your personal legal issue.

Civil Justice Network – Lawyer Referral Service: This telephonic intake first screens
callers for eligibility for free legal services through organizations such as Legal Aid and
Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Service and then refers the matter to Civil Justice members if no
free legal help is available. 410-706-0174

Lawyer in the Library: In a Maryland Legal Aid partnership, this service may be available
for issues such as: expungements, child custody and support, debt collection, housing,
landlord/tenants, government benefits, unemployment benefits, veterans’ benefits,

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service: General Civil Legal Services for those meeting low
income qualifications. MVLS may be able to help with: civil legal matters, child support, criminal
matters other than expungements, family law including name change, fee generating, housing
vouchers, immigration, juvenile, and SSI or SSDI matters.
