CLC TO REPRESENT MULTIPLE NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS IMPACTED BY AMTRAK’S FREDERICK DOUGLASS TUNNEL

Contact: Ijeoma S. Nwatu, Communications Manager | gro.walytinummoc@amoeji

BALTIMORE, MD – For nearly 40 years, Community Law Center (CLC) has served as the legal partner for neighborhoods across Maryland. Community Law Center provides clients with accessible legal representation that would otherwise be unattainable. Amtrak’s multi-million dollar infrastructure project in Maryland, known as the Frederick Douglass Tunnel, will impact communities in West Baltimore.

To ensure the vitality, safety, and welfare of Baltimore’s historic neighborhoods, CLC has been retained to represent multiple neighborhood groups throughout West Baltimore.

“Community Law Center looks forward to amplifying the voices of our clients in the days and weeks to come, as we work together with local, state, and federal leadership to navigate the pending infrastructure changes,” said executive director, Amy Petkovsek.

The recent methods and speed of development in affected communities has resulted in tension, uncertainty, and instability in neighborhoods that deserve better. Historically disinvested and underserved areas of Baltimore City deserve thoughtful planning, communication, discussion, and just compensation.

By representing groups in West Baltimore, CLC remains committed and invested in its role as a legal advocate for Maryland’s nonprofit organizations.
